Yulia Svyrydenko takes part in G7 finance ministers and central bank governors meeting in Washington

Рrime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Svyrydenko took part in the G7 finance ministers and central bank governors meeting in Washington.

The Head of the Ukrainian Government described the situation with russian attacks on the country’s energy infrastructure and shelling of civilian facilities with no military significance as consistent terror against the Ukrainian people.

“Incidents involving russian drones and fighter jets appearing in the airspace of NATO countries over the past months demonstrate that russia has no intention of stopping. Therefore, in Ukraine’s 2026 budget, the main priorities remain defence and support for economic stability and our people. The new support programme from the IMF, which we are currently working on with our partners, must provide for these expenditures,” emphasised Yulia Svyrydenko.

During the meeting, the parties discussed the prospects for using frozen russian assets.

“Our position remains unchanged – they must be directed towards Ukraine’s recovery and compensation for the damages inflicted. We are counting on a decision from the European Union on implementing the Reparations Loan mechanism. Following the example of the ERA Loan, this initiative must involve the G7 countries and our other international partners. It is important that the use of funds under the reparations loan is balanced in covering our needs – military expenditures and bridging the budget deficit,” stressed the Prime Minister of Ukraine.

She added that Ukraine values the unwavering support of the G7 countries in times of great challenges.
