Ruslan Stefanchuk met with the leader of the Liberal Democratic Party of Great Britain in London
During his visit to London, Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Ruslan Stefanchuk met with the leader of the Liberal Democratic Party of the United Kingdom, Sir Ed Davey.
The parties focused on key issues of common security. They discussed further defence support for Ukraine - strengthening air defence, increasing arms supplies and developing joint defence production.
Ruslan Stefanchuk stressed that Ukraine offers its partners a systematic model of assistance - at least 0.25% of each European country's GDP for Ukraine's defence. According to him, this is an investment not only in the stability of our country, but also in the security of the whole of Europe.
They also discussed the issue of increasing sanctions pressure on russia. The parties noted the need to block all ways of circumventing sanctions, stop the activities of the "shadow fleet" and the supply of components that ensure the operation of the russian military-industrial complex.
The parties also discussed the use of frozen russian assets. The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine stressed that the aggressor must pay for the destruction caused and called on his British colleagues to support the mechanism for transferring these funds to Ukraine. In particular, he referred to the £2.5 billion received from the sale of Chelsea Football Club in 2022, which has not yet been allocated to help Ukraine.
Ruslan Stefanchuk also expressed his special gratitude to Sir Ed Davey for his personal support of Ukraine - for providing shelter in his home to a Ukrainian family forced to flee their home due to russian aggression.
