Ruslan Stefanchuk met with President of the German Bundestag Julia Klöckner

The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Ruslan Stefanchuk met in Berlin with the President of the Bundestag of the Federal Republic of Germany, Julia Klöckner.

During the meeting, the parties discussed key issues of the Ukrainian-German partnership - from defence support to deepening inter-parliamentary cooperation.

Ruslan Stefanchuk stressed that it is extremely important for Ukraine to expand its air defence capabilities and conclude long-term defence framework contracts.

Special attention was paid to sanctions policy. The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada stressed the need to strengthen control over the export of dual-use components used by russia to produce combat drones. "We have to close the loopholes that allow the aggressor to support its military-industrial complex," said Ruslan Stefanchuk.

The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine also stressed that in order to restore security in Europe, it is necessary to increase defence assistance to Ukraine. He supported the initiative that each EU country should allocate at least 0.25% of its GDP to military assistance to Ukraine. "This is a fair and realistic step that will help to compensate for the reduction of support from other partners and guarantee the stability of arms supplies," the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada said.

Another area of the talks was the deepening of interparliamentary cooperation. The parties agreed to intensify the dialogue by resuming the work of friendship groups and strengthening coordination between the key parliamentary committees of Ukraine and Germany. This, according to Ruslan Stefanchuk, will give additional momentum to joint decisions aimed at strengthening the security and European future of Ukraine.
