The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Ruslan Stefanchuk, held a meeting with the Prime Minister of the Republic of Lithuania, Ingė Ruginienė

The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Ruslan Stefanchuk, met with the Prime Minister of the Republic of Lithuania, Ingė Ruginienė, for whom this visit was her first foreign trip as head of government. The visit to Ukraine was a symbolic and important gesture, demonstrating Lithuania's unwavering support for our state.

During the meeting, the parties discussed a wide range of issues, from strengthening defence cooperation to Ukraine's progress towards European integration.

Inga Rūginienė highly appreciated the progress made by the Verkhovna Rada on the path to European Union membership and expressed confidence in the restoration of Ukraine's territorial integrity. She also stressed that the 19th package of EU sanctions should be directed not only against russia, but also against belarus, which is an accomplice to the aggression.

Ruslan Stefanchuk thanked Lithuania for its comprehensive support — political, military, humanitarian and energy. «Lithuania remains an example of a true ally — one that acts without waiting for the end of the war, but helps to bring about a just peace,» said the Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada.

Key topics of discussion included strengthening defence cooperation, integrating Ukrainian air defence systems with NATO partners, joint arms production, and Lithuania's participation in demining and reconstruction projects in Ukraine.

In the context of European integration, Ruslan Stefanchuk noted Vilnius' consistent position: EU enlargement policy should not be held hostage to the destructive actions of individual member states. The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada expressed his expectation that new negotiation clusters with Ukraine would be opened during the Danish Presidency of the EU.

Summing up the meeting, Ruslan Stefanchuk thanked the Lithuanian government and parliament for their genuine friendship and solidarity: «Together, we are strengthening a Europe based on freedom, mutual support and justice.»
