Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Ruslan Stefanchuk meets with the newly appointed Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany Heiko Thoms

On the eve of German Unity Day, Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Ruslan Stefanchuk held a meeting with the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federal Republic of Germany to Ukraine, Heiko Thoms.

Ruslan Stefanchuk congratulated the diplomat on the start of his mission and wished him success in further work to strengthen Ukrainian-German relations. He stressed that the appointment comes at a decisive time, when international solidarity must be the key to stopping the aggressor.

The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada emphasized that Germany remains one of Ukraine’s key partners, providing political, financial, humanitarian, and military support. “We highly appreciate Berlin’s consistent efforts within the EU sanctions policy and its support for the initiative to use frozen russian assets for the reconstruction of Ukraine,” he underscored.

Special attention during the meeting was devoted to European integration. Ruslan Stefanchuk recalled that Ukraine has completed the legislative screening with the European Commission and now expects the unblocking of Cluster 1. “We count on Germany’s continued leadership role in this process,” he noted.

Another important topic of discussion was the development of interparliamentary cooperation. According to Ruslan Stefanchuk, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, the Bundestag, and the Bundesrat maintain active dialogue, which will only deepen in the future. “Together with Germany, we will continue to strengthen European unity and jointly fight for freedom and a just peace,” he concluded.
