Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Ruslan Stefanchuk met with the Speaker of the House of Commons of the United Kingdom, Sir Lindsey Hoyle

On the sidelines of the G7 Parliamentary Summit in Ottawa, Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Ruslan Stefanchuk met with the Speaker of the House of Commons of the United Kingdom, Sir Lindsey Hoyle.

Ruslan Stefanchuk thanked the United Kingdom for its consistent military, financial and political support for Ukraine. "Our relations are closer than ever, which is confirmed by the historic 100-year partnership agreement signed this year. It opens a new era of strategic cooperation between our countries," the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada said.

During the meeting, the parties discussed ways to achieve a just and lasting peace, which is possible only on the basis of the UN Charter and respect for the territorial integrity of Ukraine. The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada stressed that there can be no concessions on sovereignty or territory, as required by the Constitution of Ukraine.

Particular attention was paid to the issue of strengthening sanctions against russia, in particular in the energy sector, and the need to use the aggressor's frozen assets to strengthen Ukraine's defence capabilities and rebuild our country.

They also discussed Euro-Atlantic integration. Ruslan Stefanchuk stressed that Ukraine's membership in NATO remains the best guarantee of our security. "The UK is one of Ukraine's most reliable friends. We appreciate this support and are convinced that together we will be able to stop the aggressor and achieve a just peace," the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada stressed.
