Within the framework of the G7 Parliamentary Summit in Ottawa, Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Ruslan Stefanchuk met with the President of the National Assembly of France Yael Braun-Pivet.
Ruslan Stefanchuk thanked France for its defence, financial and political support of Ukraine, as well as for its consistent position in defending the sovereignty and territorial integrity of our country. He expressed confidence that France would continue to play a leading role in consolidating international efforts to support Ukraine, especially in view of its upcoming presidency of the G7 in 2026.
During the meeting, the parties discussed the achievement of a just and lasting peace, which is possible only on the basis of the UN Charter and without any concessions to the aggressor.
"Territorial compromises are unacceptable for Ukraine - the Constitution of Ukraine does not allow it," the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada stressed.
The parties discussed the need to strengthen sanctions against russia, in particular in the energy and liquefied natural gas sectors, as well as the importance of making decisions on the confiscation of frozen russian assets.
Particular attention was paid to the return of Ukrainian children illegally deported by russia from the occupied territories and Ukraine's European and Euro-Atlantic integration. "Our course towards the EU and NATO is unchanged, and we expect further support from the French Parliament," Ruslan Stefanchuk stressed.
