Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Ruslan Stefanchuk discussed achieving a just peace with Speaker of the House of Representatives Mike Johnson
On the sidelines of the G7 Parliamentary Summit in Ottawa, Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Ruslan Stefanchuk met with Speaker of the House of Representatives Mike Johnson. The focus of the meeting was on security, support for Ukraine and ways to a just peace.
During the talks, Ruslan Stefanchuk thanked the United States for its long-standing and consistent support of Ukraine, which is especially important in the face of daily russian missile and drone attacks. He highlighted the role of Congress in making decisions that strengthen Ukraine's defence capabilities and help counteract aggression, as well as President Donald Trump's determination to put an end to russian aggression.
The key topics of the meeting were the achievement of a just and lasting peace, security guarantees for Ukraine and the need to return Ukrainian children illegally taken by russia from the occupied territories.
Mike Johnson emphasised that the war in Ukraine remains one of the main issues in the daily focus of the United States. He confirmed that Washington is interested in ending the war as soon as possible and establishing sustainable peace.
"The United States is a strategic partner and a reliable friend of Ukraine. Their support saves lives and strengthens defences. America's leadership is the key to the unity of the world and a just peace," Ruslan Stefanchuk emphasised.
