Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Ruslan Stefanchuk begins working visit to Canada with a meeting with Speaker of the House of Commons Francis Scarpaleggia

The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Ruslan Stefanchuk, has begun a working visit to Ottawa, where he is taking part in the G7 Parliamentary Summit. The first event was a meeting with the Speaker of the House of Commons of Canada, Francis Scarpaleggia.



Ruslan Stefanchuk thanked Canada for its unwavering support of Ukraine - political, economic and military - since the first days of russia's full-scale invasion. He noted the decisions of the Canadian Parliament condemning the crimes of the Kremlin regime and reaffirming Ukraine's course towards NATO.

The parties discussed a number of important issues: prospects for achieving a just peace and security guarantees for Ukraine, strengthening sanctions against the aggressor, and the return of Ukrainian children illegally taken by russia from the temporarily occupied territories.

The future work of the International Crimean Platform was also discussed. Ruslan Stefanchuk invited his Canadian counterpart to take part in the Fourth Parliamentary Summit of the Crimean Platform to be held in Stockholm.

The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada also expressed hope for a joint visit of the speakers of the G7 parliaments to Kyiv. In his opinion, this would be a powerful gesture of solidarity with Ukraine.

"There can be no concessions to Ukraine's territory or sovereignty," Ruslan Stefanchuk stressed.
