Denmark announces support for the reconstruction of Ukraine of at least DKK 500 million

On Wednesday, Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Svyrydenko will visit Denmark. At the same time, Minister for Industry, Business and Financial Affairs of Denmark Morten Bødskov is announcing the government’s intention to contribute at least DKK 500 million to the Ukraine Fund. The funds will go toward the reconstruction of the war-torn country.

Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Svyrydenko is making her first foreign visit in this role, with Denmark as the first stop.

Here, she will, among other things, meet with Minister for Industry, Business and Financial Affairs Morten Bødskov. The two will sign a memorandum of understanding, which will continue and strengthen cooperation between the two countries through what has become known as the Danish model for support.

At the same time, the Minister is announcing a contribution of at least DKK 500 million to the Ukraine Fund. These funds will ensure that Danish companies continue to play a key role in rebuilding Ukraine.

Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Svyrydenko said:

“Today’s visit to Denmark begins with an important decision – the Danish government is allocating DKK 500 million to the Ukraine Fund. This is guarantee capital that enables EIFO to support investments and export projects worth at least DKK 1.5 billion. The mechanism reduces risks for businesses and opens the way for Danish companies to take part in Ukraine’s reconstruction. We highly value Denmark’s consistent support since the very first day of the full-scale war.”

Minister for Business Morten Bødskov says:

“Denmark has stood shoulder to shoulder with Ukraine since the first day of the brutal war, and we remain there. That’s why I am pleased and proud that we, once again, will make a significant contribution to the work of rebuilding the country. At the same time, it is a great honor to welcome Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko to Denmark. This is a fantastic opportunity to further strengthen the cooperation between our countries and assure the Ukrainian people that their Danish friends are helping with all we can.”

The Ukraine Fund is a scheme administered by Denmark’s Export and Investment Fund (EIFO), which helps Danish companies export to and invest in Ukraine. Under the scheme, EIFO assumes the risks involved in doing business in Ukraine. So far, guarantees have been provided for projects in, among others, the agricultural sector, the energy sector, and the health sector.

With the new funds, new guarantees can be provided for at least DKK 1.5 billion. The money for the fund is part of the Danish government’s proposal for the 2026 Finance Act.

During the visit to Denmark, Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Svyrydenko will also take part in a business event at the Confederation of Danish Industry as well as in a lunch at the Prime Minister’s Office.
