Yulia Svyrydenko discusses start of Ukraine’s EU membership negotiations with Danish Prime Minister
Рrime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Svyrydenko met with Prime Minister of Denmark Mette Frederiksen to discuss Ukraine’s EU membership.
“The main topic was the start of EU membership negotiations. Ukraine is ready to open the first three negotiation clusters now and the remaining ones by year-end. Opening the first cluster will signal to Ukrainians the irreversibility of our EU integration,” said Yulia Svyrydenko.
During a friendly and constructive discussion, the Head of the Ukrainian Government expressed gratitude to Denmark for its tangible support, which strengthens Ukraine’s defence and aids its people.
Yulia Svyrydenko said that after the negotiations in Washington, the Government is working on a framework for security guarantees. “Our position is clear: no territorial concessions, restrictions on sovereignty or defence capabilities,” stressed the Ukrainian Prime Minister.
Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen reaffirmed Denmark’s steadfast support for Ukraine’s EU path and defence strengthening.
Yulia Svyrydenko highlighted the Danish model of support for the defence sector – a transparent mechanism combining state funding, partner contributions, and direct orders for Ukraine’s defence industry. This model should form part of future security guarantees for Ukraine and Europe.
