Ukraine and Romania expand partnership in security, reconstruction and European integration
Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko held a meeting with a Romanian delegation led by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defence Liviu-Ionuț Moșteanu.
During the meeting, the parties discussed key areas of cooperation between Ukraine and Romania:
- Defence and security. The Ukrainian side highly values Romania’s assistance, including prospects for joint production of drones and armaments.
- Reconstruction. Romanian partners expressed interest in implementing projects in the transport and energy sectors, developing border infrastructure, and supporting small and medium-sized businesses.
- EU funds expertise. An agreement was reached to intensify cooperation to secure European funding.
- Border development. Discussions included modernising existing border crossing points and opening new ones in collaboration with Moldova.
A key topic was Ukraine’s European integration. Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko emphasised: “We are technically prepared to open the first three negotiation clusters and count on Romania’s support so that Ukraine and Moldova advance on this path together.”
