The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada discussed with the Vice-Chancellor of Germany the strengthening of sanctions pressure on the aggressor

The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Ruslan Stefanchuk, met with the Vice-Chancellor and Federal Minister of Finance of Germany, Lars Klingbeil. They discussed Germany's support for Ukraine, the development of joint defence projects and strengthening sanctions pressure on the aggressor.

Ruslan Stefanchuk thanked Germany for its consistent political, military and financial assistance, which has already exceeded €50 billion, including almost €9 billion in military support in 2025 alone. He also sincerely thanked the entire German people for their long-standing support for Ukraine.

The parties discussed financing the production of unmanned aerial vehicles in Ukraine, developing joint defence enterprises, supplying medium- and long-range air defence systems, and the prospects of obtaining Taurus missiles, which are critical for deterring the aggressor. Ruslan Stefanchuk emphasised the need not only to maintain existing sanctions, but also to quickly adopt new ones, particularly in the energy, metallurgy and nuclear sectors, as well as to strengthen secondary sanctions against those who help russia circumvent restrictions.

Lars Klingbeil emphasised: ‘It is very important for me and for the Chancellor to send a signal that we stand with our Ukrainian friends. Decisions cannot be made behind the backs of Ukrainians.’

Ruslan Stefanchuk praised Germany's leadership, emphasising that joint action strengthens Europe's security and brings a just peace closer for Ukraine.
