Yuliia Svyrydenko discusses opening of first three EU clusters with Bulgarian Prime Minister

On 20 August, Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Svyrydenko met with Bulgarian Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov. The two leaders discussed bilateral cooperation and European integration.

“Ukraine has met all technical conditions and is ready to open the first three negotiation clusters with the EU – ’Fundamentals’, ‘Internal Market’, and ‘External Relations’. As early as September, the EU will have the opportunity to decide on opening the first cluster,” stated the Head of the Ukrainian Government, adding that this would be a significant step in supporting Ukraine’s European integration aspirations.

Yulia Svyrydenko also emphasised the importance of Ukraine and Moldova’s joint progress towards European integration and acknowledged Bulgaria’s support for this stance.

The prime ministers also focused on education issues, particularly the continued teaching of the Bulgarian language in Ukraine.

“This is an important element of our mutual respect for national communities,” underscored Yulia Svyrydenko.

She expressed gratitude to Bulgaria for its assistance in restoring Ukraine’s energy system, which faces daily russian attacks, as well as for supporting the diversification of energy supplies and energy security projects.
