Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada discusses further support for Ukraine with Chairman of the Bundestag Defence Committee
Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Ruslan Stefanchuk met with Chairman of the Bundestag Defence Committee Thomas Röwekamp.
Ruslan Stefanchuk thanked Germany for the consistent political, military and financial support that Ukraine receives in the fight against russian aggression. Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, Berlin has provided Ukraine and Ukrainians in Germany with about €50 billion in aid, of which more than €15 billion has been allocated for military needs.
The parties discussed further military assistance. In particular, they discussed funding for the production of drones and the development of joint defence enterprises, the supply of long-range Taurus missiles, which are critical for deterring the aggressor, as well as the transfer of medium- and long-range air defence systems, including Patriot systems.
The parties also discussed support for Ukraine under the PURL initiative and the procurement of weapons for the Security and Defence Forces. They also discussed Ukraine's European integration and the prospects of its membership in NATO as a reliable guarantee of security.
The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada stressed that peace cannot mean a reward for the aggressor. "It must be fair and based on the strength of international unity. We count on Germany's continued leadership in strengthening the sanctions pressure on russia," stressed Ruslan Stefanchuk.
