The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Ruslan Stefanchuk, held a telephone conversation with the Chairwoman of the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Sahiba Gafarova

The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada, Ruslan Stefanchuk, highly appreciated the words of solidarity and support expressed by his colleague during the conversation.

The parties discussed current international events, in particular the signing of the Joint Declaration of Azerbaijan, the United States and Armenia in Washington. According to the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, this is an important step towards lasting peace in the South Caucasus.

Ruslan Stefanchuk stated that Ukraine supports initiatives based on the principles of the UN Charter, international law, sovereignty and territorial integrity of states.

«I emphasised that any decisions regarding Ukraine made without our country’s participation are decisions against peace. It is unacceptable to discuss the future of a European state without Europe and without Ukraine itself. Our position is consistent: russia must stop the killings and agree to a ceasefire,» said the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.

Separately, Ruslan Stefanchuk expressed solidarity with Azerbaijan in connection with the repression against Azerbaijanis in russia and attacks on SOCAR facilities in Ukraine.

«These crimes are links in a chain of aggression, which we strongly condemn,» said the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.

Ruslan Stefanchuk invited Ms. Gafarova to visit Ukraine on an official visit and participate in the Fourth Parliamentary Summit of the Crimean Platform, which will take place on 23–24 November in Stockholm.

«I am also grateful for the invitation to Baku to strengthen interparliamentary dialogue between our capitals,» said the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, adding that Ukraine and Azerbaijan will continue to develop political dialogue and cooperation at the interparliamentary level.
