Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Ruslan Stefanchuk had a conversation with the Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Slovenia Urška Klakočar Zupančič

Ruslan Stefanchuk and Urška Klakočar-Zupančič discussed Ukraine's participation in the upcoming peace talks and security guarantees. The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada noted the clear position of his Slovenian counterpart: it is unacceptable to discuss the future of a sovereign state without its participation. Ukraine should be a full participant in the upcoming negotiations, as well as Europe, because it is not only about the war in Ukraine, but also about the common European security.

The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada stressed that the President of Ukraine is ready for any constructive format of negotiations, the main thing is the result, which should start with a ceasefire.

The parties are united in understanding that security guarantees for Ukraine should not be paper declarations, but effective mechanisms capable of deterring the aggressor.

«russia has no - and will not have - the right to influence the future of Ukraine: neither in the EU nor in NATO. Every peace initiative should be accompanied by strong political and sanctions pressure on the aggressor,» stressed Ruslan Stefanchuk.

The parties agreed to further coordinate their efforts, in particular within inter-parliamentary groups. They reaffirmed their common understanding that sustainable peace is possible only on the basis of unwavering respect for international law, which must once again become an unconditional guide.
