The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada, Ruslan Stefanchuk, discussed with the President of the Belgian Senate support for Ukraine and ways to achieve a just peace

Another important stage in interparliamentary diplomacy was the substantive conversation between Ruslan Stefanchuk, Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, and Vincent Blondel, President of the Senate of the Kingdom of Belgium.

During the discussion, the Belgian side confirmed its unwavering support for Ukraine and its clear position: «Nothing about Ukraine without Ukraine, nothing about Europe without Europe.»

The parties agreed that a ceasefire should be the first step towards peace, and that security guarantees for Ukraine should be real and effective, not just declarative. Ruslan Stefanchuk stressed that russia cannot have the right to veto Ukraine's future in the EU and NATO, and that any negotiations must be accompanied by effective sanctions and political pressure on the aggressor until a just and lasting peace is achieved.

«A free Ukraine means a stable Europe. That is why we must maintain unity and act together,» the Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada stressed.

Following the talks, the parties agreed to maintain constant dialogue and close coordination of actions to strengthen the security of Ukraine and Europe as a whole.
