The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada held a telephone conversation with the Speaker of the Swedish Riksdag
The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Ruslan Stefanchuk, discussed with the Speaker of the Swedish Riksdag, Andreas Norlen, the issue of achieving a just and sustainable peace in Ukraine.
Ruslan Stefanchuk thanked his colleague for Sweden's clear and principled position that any agreements concerning Ukraine cannot be adopted without its participation and taking into account its national interests. The parties also noted the critical importance of this moment for both Ukraine and Europe as a whole, emphasising the need to continue sanctions and political pressure on russia.
«Ukrainians want peace, but only on fair terms and with reliable security guarantees so that russia can no longer threaten Ukraine and other European countries. That is why it is important to maintain military and financial support until decisions are made that fully comply with these principles and to increase sanctions pressure on the aggressor,» the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada emphasised.
Ruslan Stefanchuk expressed gratitude for Sweden's unwavering support and agreed on further close coordination between parliaments for the safe and stable development of the situation in the region.
