The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada, Ruslan Stefanchuk, discussed with the President of the National Council of the Swiss Parliament ways to achieve a just peace for Ukraine
The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Ruslan Stefanchuk, held a telephone conversation with the President of the National Council of the Swiss Parliament, Maja Riniker, during which the parties discussed the current security situation and prospects for a peaceful settlement of the war unleashed by russia.
Ruslan Stefanchuk emphasised that in this war there is a clear distinction between the victim and the aggressor: Ukraine has become a victim of unprovoked aggression, and any attempts to blur this truth only play into the hands of the occupier. He drew attention to the fact that, despite the ongoing war in the centre of Europe, the countries of the European Union are still not involved in the negotiation process — and this is a serious miscalculation.
«Once again, we agreed on the principle: no decisions about Ukraine without Ukraine. We agreed to synchronise our efforts to ensure a just peace that will serve the interests of our state and guarantee the long-term security of the whole of Europe,» said the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada.
The Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada thanked Maja Riniker and the Swiss Parliament for their clear and principled position, support for Ukraine and commitment to the principles of international law.
