The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada held a telephone conversation with the President of the German Bundestag
During the conversation, the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Ruslan Stefanchuk and the President of the German Bundestag Julia Klöckner discussed issues of peace, security and support for Ukraine.
Ruslan Stefanchuk stressed that Berlin understands well that without Ukraine, there can be no decisions concerning peace. He stressed that the territorial integrity of our state, enshrined in the Constitution and internationally recognised, is not a subject of negotiation. Ukraine will not agree to ‘exchanges’ or concessions to the aggressor and will not trade its land or sovereignty.
The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine emphasised that it is russia's unconditional responsibility to stop the killings and cease fire. Only then will real political steps be possible that take into account the position of both Ukraine and Europe. He also noted that Europe must be directly involved in the negotiation process, as its security is inextricably linked to the security of Ukraine.
«Julia Klöckner and I agreed that peace must be lasting and fair, and that it can only be achieved through strength and joint pressure on the aggressor. This means maintaining and strengthening sanctions, continuing military and financial support, and supporting our course towards accelerated integration into the EU,» said Ruslan Stefanchuk.
He thanked Julia Klöckner and the Bundestag for their active assistance and for sending a clear signal: Ukraine's security is an integral part of Europe's security.
