The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine discussed the security situation and the peace process with the Speaker of the Estonian Parliament
The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Ruslan Stefanchuk, held a telephone conversation with the Speaker of the Riigikogu of Estonia, Lauri Hussar.
Ruslan Stefanchuk informed his colleague about the current security situation and Ukraine's diplomatic efforts in the context of international peace negotiations. He stressed that any decisions taken without Ukraine's participation would not ensure a fair settlement and would only encourage the aggressor to further escalate the conflict.
«We appreciate the unwavering support of Estonia and its partners. Only through joint efforts, by strengthening sanctions, providing military and financial assistance, and involving European institutions, will we be able to stop the aggression and restore a just peace,» emphasised the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.
The parties confirmed their shared position on the inviolability of Ukraine's borders, as enshrined in the Constitution, and the importance of Europe's active participation in the peace process. Ruslan Stefanchuk called on Estonia and its partners to maintain and increase their assistance to Ukraine, as well as to support Ukraine's accelerated integration into the EU.
The interlocutors emphasised that the path to lasting peace begins with an unconditional ceasefire on the part of russia, which will stop the killings and create conditions for a genuine political settlement.
As a result, the parties agreed to continue coordinating joint actions to achieve a just peace and strengthen security in Ukraine and Europe.
