The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine discussed with the Speaker of the Saeima of the Republic of Latvia, Daiga Mieriņa, a shared vision for ending the war

The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine spoke on the phone with the Speaker of the Saeima of the Republic of Latvia, Daiga Mieriņa.

During the conversation, the parties discussed their shared vision for ending the war: it is only possible on the basis of justice, respect for international law and the preservation of Ukraine's territorial integrity. It was emphasised that any peace agreements must take into account Ukraine's position, as this is the only way to achieve a just and lasting peace.

Daiga Mierina emphasised the importance of equality between the parties in the negotiations and the interest of European countries in direct participation in this process.

Particular attention was paid to the issues of strengthening sanctions against the aggressor state, as well as maintaining and expanding military and financial assistance to Ukraine. The parties discussed future meetings and coordination of efforts to bring peace closer.

The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Ruslan Stefanchuk, expressed gratitude for the unwavering support of Ukraine and the solidarity of the Latvian people, which is felt at all levels — from parliament to citizens.
