The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Ruslan Stefanchuk held a telephone conversation with the President of the European Parliament Roberta Metsola. The parties agreed that Europe and its institutions should play an active role in the peaceful settlement, and that any decisions without Ukraine's participation would be contrary to the interests of peace.
They also discussed the situation on the front lines and international efforts aimed at achieving a just and sustainable peace in Ukraine. Ruslan Stefanchuk emphasised that any decisions made without Ukraine's participation would not contribute to peace, as peace must be just and based on international law. He stressed the importance of increasing sanctions pressure on the aggressor state, maintaining and increasing military and financial assistance, and providing maximum support for Ukraine's integration into the European Union.
«We will continue to work together to establish a just peace and security in Ukraine and Europe,» the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada concluded.
