Italy supports our accession to the EU and will help rebuild Ukraine, - Vice Speaker Olena Kondratiuk

The Vice Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine met in Rome with the Vice President of the Italian Chamber of Deputies, Anna Ascani.

The parties discussed the upcoming URC2025 conference, participation of Italy in the rebuilding of Ukraine, strengthening of the EU sanctions and the return of Ukrainian children abducted by russia. 

Anna Ascani emphasised that she personally takes part in the implementation of 18th sanctions package against russia. According to her these sanctions are essential which russia is not able to circumvent.

The URC2025 conference held in Rome, was organized to show russia that Italy will continue to support Ukraine and is ready to assist in its reconstruction.

«We want that peace we are striving for to be lasting. We understand what russia is, and we stand as a partner for Ukraine,» said the Vice President of the Italian Chamber of Deputies.

In turn, the Vice Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Olena Kondratiuk thanked Italy for military assistance and contribution to the protection of Ukrainian skies from russian attacks.

She noted that Italy has already provided €2.8 billion in military assistance. In addition, another €1.7 billion will be allocated this year..

«Italy will deliver another — the third — SAMP/T air defense system along with missiles. Italy remains a reliable partner of Ukraine and is doing everything possible to help open negotiations on our EU accession,» emphasized Deputy Speaker Olena Kondratiuk following the meeting.
