Security challenges, toughening sanctions against russia and development of transport infrastructure tackled by heads of government of Ukraine and Romania
Оn 8 July, the Prime Ministers of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal and of Romania Ilie Bolojan held an online meeting.
The parties discussed current security challenges caused by russia's military actions against Ukraine. Denys Shmyhal proposed to hold a joint trilateral meeting in the near future with the participation of the heads of government of Ukraine, Romania and Moldova.
A separate topic of conversation was the issue of sanctions, further pressure on russia and the use of its frozen assets to compensate for the damage caused.
The meeting dealt with the development of transport and border infrastructure. In particular, Denys Shmyhal welcomed the opening of the Dyakivtsi-Rakovets checkpoint for large passenger buses.
"Ukraine is interested in the development of modern transport routes, as well as in the build-up of border infrastructure," the Prime Minister of Ukraine stressed.
The Head of the Ukrainian Government proposed to his Romanian counterpart to hold the second joint meeting of the governments of Ukraine and Romania and expressed hope for close personal interaction with Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan to further deepen the Ukrainian-Romanian strategic partnership.
Denys Shmyhal thanked Romania for its active support of our country, in particular for the inclusion of a section in the programme of the new Romanian Government on strengthening cooperation with Ukraine. Denys Shmyhal also praised the practical assistance in strengthening the defence capability of our country.
