Denys Shmyhal discussed with EU Ambassadors coordination of efforts to counter aggression and support for Ukraine

оn June 20, Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal met with Ambassadors of the European Union.

The parties addressed a wide range of issues. Among the Important topics for discussion were coordination of efforts to counter russian aggression, bolstering support for Ukraine and priorities of the Government's domestic policy in times of war.

“Against the backdrop of a new wave of massive russian attacks, in particular on civilian infrastructure, there is a growing need to expand military, financial and humanitarian support for Ukraine,” emphasized Denys Shmyhal.

He noted that it was critical to further intensify such assistance so that it comes in a fast, systematic and coordinated manner.

The Prime Minister expressed his gratitude to the European Union for the constant financial and military support provided to our country in difficult times.

 The meeting's participants also touched upon sanctions against the russian federation. The Head of Government thanked for the adoption of 17 packages of sanctions against the aggressor and emphasized that was crucial to step up pressure on the russian economy, in particular on such sectors as metallurgy, nuclear and chemical industry, IT services and finance.

"The confiscation of frozen russian assets is a fundamental issue. We appreciate the launch of the ERA mechanism by the G7 and the EU. We count on decisions that will allow us to direct all frozen russian funds to support and restore Ukraine," said Denys Shmyhal.

The Prime Minister familiarized the EU ambassadors with the priorities of the Government, which are closely related to the European integration path. These include economic sustainability, business support, restoration and strengthening of the defense and industrial potential.
"We are looking forward to the opening of negotiations on clusters as soon as possible. We also rely on active cooperation with the EU member states under the new EUR 150 billion SAFE instrument to meet the most important defense needs," said Denys Shmyhal.

The Prime Minister thanked the EU and its member states for their unwavering solidarity and highlighted the need for even greater cohesion and determination to protect Europe from the russian threat.
