Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Ruslan Stefanchuk: «We deeply appreciate the solidarity of Luxembourg, constant support and understanding of the Ukrainian struggle»

Within the official visit to the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Ruslan Stefanchuk held a meeting with Vice Premier, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Humanitarian Aid, Xavier Bettel.

          The parties discussed the security situation of Ukraine after another russia's massive attack. The Chairman of the Parliament emphasised that strikes on civilian cities reminds us one more time that russian terror doesn't stop and needs to get a decisive international response. 

During the meeting Ruslan Stefanchuk thanked Luxembourg for sincere and constant support: over €400  millions of support since 2022, in particular €21 millions in 2025 for the restoration of energy infrastructure, defence and mental health projects for children.

Particular attention was paid to the issue of humanitarian demining. The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine expressed his gratitude for the provision of 110 sets of equipment and support for training centres operating in the regions, including Kryvyi Rih.

The parties also discussed separately the participation of Luxembourg agency LuxDev in the realization of 40 renovation projects: support for internally displaced persons, education, shelter in schools and rehabilitation of veterans.

The issue of the forced deportation of Ukrainian children was also raised. Ruslan Stefanchuk emphasised that russia abducted at least 20 000 underage Ukrainian citizens and the return of each and every one of them is a moral imperative. Luxembourg is an active member of the International Coalition working for their release. Thanks to joint efforts, some of the children have been brought back home, yet thousands remain in occupation.
