French Development Agency has provided Ukraine with EUR 400 million in aid and supports 19 joint projects: Denys Shmyhal

On 3 June in Paris, Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal and Rémy Rioux, CEO of the French Development Agency (AFD), held a meeting to discuss infrastructure restoration and support for Ukrainian communities.

“We are grateful to AFD for initiatives to modernise energy facilities, water supply, transport networks, hospitals, and schools, which will help restore comfortable living conditions for citizens. We also appreciate the urban development projects already funded by AFD, particularly those focused on restoring municipal infrastructure, utilities, and improving housing conditions,” Denys Shmyhal emphasised.

The Head of the Ukrainian Government noted that at the start of the full-scale invasion, AFD provided Ukraine with EUR 400 million in aid.

“We currently have 19 joint projects and look forward to further developing our cooperation. This enables French companies to invest in Ukraine, establish joint ventures, and implement restoration projects,” the Prime Minister stated.

The parties also focused on investment in security and defence.

“This is a key priority for us,” Denys Shmyhal stressed.

Additionally, the parties discussed support for the private sector, which will be the foundation for future reconstruction.

“We highly value AFD’s active support and engagement in restoration projects,” Denys Shmyhal concluded.
