Ukraine is determined to create a safe and strong Europe together with Poland, - Oleksandr Korniienko

First Deputy Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada Oleksandr Korniienko met with Adam Szlapka, Minister of the Government of the Republic of Poland for European Union Affairs.

During the meeting, Oleksandr Kornienko expressed his gratitude to Poland for its long-term support of Ukraine, stressing that it is a reliable ally and an important partner in the fight against the russian aggressor. He stressed that Ukraine highly appreciates, in particular, financial, military and ideological support. «Ukraine is grateful for all the assistance provided», the First Deputy Speaker said.

Oleksandr Korniienko underscored the importance of Ukraine’s European integration path, informing the Polish side that the Government of Ukraine has already approved the transformation roadmaps required to launch negotiations on the first cluster within the framework of Ukraine’s accession to the European Union.

He also raised the issue of trade liberalization between Ukraine and the EU, in particular the extension of autonomous trade measures and the possibility of lifting the ban on the import of certain types of Ukrainian agricultural products by Poland. «We count on a decision by the Polish Government to lift the ban on the import of certain Ukrainian agricultural goods», Oleksandr Korniienko stated.

While discussing prospects for cooperation, Oleksandr Korniienko noted that Ukrainian communities, particularly at the local level, have the potential to attract significant resources for development through participation in various European programs and initiatives. However, he stated that Ukraine currently lacks sufficient capacity and infrastructure to implement these projects effectively. He appealed for support in educational initiatives for communities and proposed that Poland consider the possibility of establishing training programs tailored to specific regions or communities of Ukraine.

In conclusion, the First Deputy Speaker emphasized that Ukraine is committed to building a secure and strong Europe together with Poland and expressed hope for continued active support in this endeavor.
