Deepening defence cooperation and developing Ukraine’s defence industry discussed at Prime Minister’s meeting with NATO PA delegation

On 29 April, Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal met with a delegation of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly led by President Marcos Perestrello.

One of the key topics discussed was the deepening of defence cooperation and the development of Ukraine’s defence-industrial complex. The Prime Minister highlighted the effectiveness of the Danish model in supporting Ukraine’s defence industry and called for further development of this mechanism.

Additionally, the parties explored ways for the NATO Parliamentary Assembly to assist Ukraine, not only in the short term but also in the long term.

“We agreed that Europe, the United States and Ukraine must work together to establish a just and lasting peace. Any agreement must be adopted with reliable security guarantees,” said Denys Shmyhal.

He expressed gratitude to the NATO Parliamentary Assembly for its political and military support in countering russian aggression and advancing Ukraine’s path towards NATO membership.

“The Parliamentary Assembly plays a crucial role in maintaining the unity of Alliance’s members,” said Denys Shmyhal.
