Denys Shmyhal meets with Prime Minister of Belgium Bart de Wever
On 8 April, a meeting took place between the Prime Ministers of Ukraine and Belgium, Denys Shmyhal and Bart De Wever.
According to the Head of the Ukrainian Government, the first foreign visit of his counterpart to Ukraine in his new position is a symbol of support and solidarity with Ukraine.
The parties discussed a number of important issues, including cooperation in the economic and defence sectors.
“Support for the defence industry remains important for us. Today, Bart de Wever announced that his Government would provide a EUR 1 billion aid package in 2025 and would consider the allocation of EUR 1 billion annually for defence needs,” said Denys Shmyhal.
He also said that, alongside the government delegation, heads of the Belgian defence industry arrived in Kyiv. They will hold talks with Ukrainian partners to establish stable and productive business cooperation.
The Prime Minister of Ukraine thanked the Belgian government and people for their vital assistance and ongoing support in all areas.
