Denys Shmyhal talks over economic and defence cooperation with Norwegian delegation

Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal met with the Chair at the Standing Committee on Scrutiny and Constitutional Affairs of the Norwegian Storting Peter Frølich, the Chair of the Conservative Party Erna Solberg and a delegation from Norway.

The parties discussed a number of important issues in the economic and defence sectors.

"Our country is interested in increasing cooperation with Norwegian defence companies to increase the production of weapons in Ukraine," the Head of the Ukrainian Government stressed.

In addition, Denys Shmyhal called on Norwegian businesses to invest in Ukraine and noted that a number of Norwegian companies were willing to help in the reconstruction of housing.

"Our key areas of recovery are energy, housing, humanitarian demining, critical infrastructure, and business support," the Prime Minister stressed.

He also praised the support for Ukraine's energy sector and thanked the EBRD for its intention to allocate EUR 140 million for the purchase of gas.

At the meeting, the parties focused on bringing russia to justice, in particular through the confiscation of frozen assets.

"The aggressor must pay. We are systematically working with all our partners in this direction," stressed Denys Shmyhal.

The Head of the Ukrainian Government emphasised the significant financial and social support provided by Norway to Ukraine. This year, the country will disburse USD 8 billion to our country, and will continue to help the Ukrainian military.
