Prime Minister of Ukraine and President of the Czech Republic discuss economic cooperation and development of the defence industry

On 21 March, Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal met with President of the Czech Republic Petr Pavel, who is on an official visit to Kyiv.

The parties discussed cooperation between the two countries, as well as the continued support of our country by the Czech Republic in various fields.
In particular, as Denys Shmyhal noted, the Czech Republic makes a significant contribution to the reconstruction of our country's infrastructure.

"The Czech patronage of the Dnipro region is an effective tool for restoring local communities. We are looking forward to the continuation and expansion of the reconstruction projects," the Prime Minister stressed. He added that a constituent meeting of the Ukrainian-Czech working group on Ukraine recovery is expected to be held soon, in accordance with the agreements reached during joint consultations between the governments of the two countries.

Denys Shmyhal also commended the Czech Republic's role in strengthening Ukraine's energy sector by providing ongoing assistance in this area.

Economic cooperation and defence, as well as industrial cooperation were important topics of discussion during the meeting.

"We addressed the prospects for the establishment and development of high-tech enterprises. Ukraine is interested in attracting Czech investments. To this end, we have a network of industrial parks that open up new opportunities for foreign investors," the Prime Minister stressed.

He also thanked the Czech Republic for its support on the path to EU membership and emphasised that Ukraine is currently working on opening all six clusters within the framework of the negotiation process with the EU.

In his turn, Petr Pavel assured of further support for Ukraine: "All support projects from the Czech Republic will be continued and developed."
