Ruslan Stefanchuk discussed with NATO PA President support for Ukraine and threats to Euro-Atlantic security
In Strasbourg, Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Ruslan Stefanchuk had a meeting with President of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly Marcos Perestrello. The parties discussed further support for Ukraine, the current security situation and prospects for interparliamentary cooperation.
Ruslan Stefanchuk reported on the constant missile and drone attacks on Ukrainian cities by Russia, noting that the shelling does not stop even on days when negotiations between Russia and the United States are underway. «Even when there is a proposal for a 30-day ceasefire, Russia continues to strike at peaceful cities. This proves once again that the aggressor is not interested in a just peace,» he said.
Special attention was paid to the enhancement of interparliamentary cooperation. «We have agreed to deepen cooperation between the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine and the NATO Parliamentary Assembly, in particular through the exchange of visits,» said Ruslan Stefanchuk.
The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine thanked the Allies for their continued support and solidarity. «I am sincerely grateful to my colleagues from the NATO Parliamentary Assembly for their support, solidarity and clear position,» he said.
Ruslan Stefanchuk highlighted that Ukraine continues to play a key role in ensuring the security of the entire Euro-Atlantic area. «Ukraine remains at the forefront of defending Euro-Atlantic security,» he concluded.
