Ruslan Stefanchuk discussed with the Head of the Parliamentary Delegation of Jordan further cooperation between the countries
Ruslan Stefanchuk, Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, met with Faisal Al-Fayez, Head of the Parliamentary Delegation of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, in Strasbourg. During the meeting, the parties discussed the strengthening of inter-parliamentary cooperation, economic cooperation and humanitarian initiatives.
Ruslan Stefanchuk thanked Jordan for supporting Ukraine in the international arena, in particular for voting in favour of the UN General Assembly resolution “Advancing a comprehensive, just and lasting peace in Ukraine”. «Support for international law and the UN Charter is the only way to peace and stability,» he said.
A particular attention was paid to humanitarian cooperation during the meeting. «Jordan has already provided humanitarian aid to Ukraine in the form of medicines and equipment. We hope for further support in this area,» the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine said.
The parties also discussed the prospects of economic cooperation. «Ukraine is interested in resuming an active trade dialogue with Jordan, in particular on trade liberalisation. We expect the consultations to be completed, which will allow us to start negotiations on a Free Trade Agreement,» Ruslan Stefanchuk said.
Another important topic of discussion was the strengthening of the inter-parliamentary dialogue. The parties agreed to exchange visits to deepen cooperation. «The development of contacts between our parliaments is a key element of bilateral relations,» the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine said.
In conclusion, Ruslan Stefanchuk said that Ukraine highly appreciates Jordan's support and seeks to expand cooperation in all areas.
