Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Ruslan Stefanchuk, met with the Speaker of the House of Representatives of the States General of the Netherlands, Martin Bosma. The parties discussed Ukraine’s support, sanctions pressure on Russia, and prospects for the confiscation of Russian assets.
Ruslan Stefanchuk thanked the Netherlands for its unwavering stance on Ukraine, particularly for joining the Joint Statement in support of Ukraine on the third anniversary of the full-scale invasion. "A symbolic gesture of solidarity was the raising of the Ukrainian flag near the Dutch Parliament building. This is an important signal of unity," he emphasized.
The Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine highlighted that peace in Ukraine must be just and based on security guarantees. "Security guarantees must include a European contingent with U.S. support - this is the key to regional stability," he noted.
Special attention was paid to the question of sanctions policy. Ruslan Stefanchuk called for expanding sanctions against Russia to new economic sectors. "Metallurgy, energy, nuclear industry, IT, financial sector, and agriculture - Russia must face constant economic pressure," he emphasized.
Another crucial aspect of the meeting was the confiscation of Russian assets. "It is time to move from freezing to confiscation. Russian assets must be used for Ukraine’s defense, resilience, and reconstruction," stated Ruslan Stefanchuk.
The parties also discussed cooperation in the defense industry. "Ukraine’s defense-industrial complex has grown sixfold in a year. We are open to investment and deeper cooperation with the EU," he stressed.
