Joint statement by 20 parliamentary leaders: international support for Ukraine continues
On the third anniversary of russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, another important result of inter-parliamentary diplomacy was a joint statement by 20 parliamentary leaders on the need to continue supporting Ukraine.
According to the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Ruslan Stefanchuk, this statement confirms the unity of the democratic world in countering russian aggression. "The parliaments of our allies have clearly demonstrated their support for Ukraine and the need to increase assistance at all levels," he said.
In the document, the parliamentarians strongly condemned russia's war crimes, aggression and systematic violation of international law. They reaffirmed their unwavering support for Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity, and called for increased assistance in the military, political, economic and humanitarian dimensions.
A special emphasis was placed on the need to expand sanctions pressure on the russian military-industrial complex, energy sector, financial system and shadow fleet. In addition, the MPs expressed support for the Peace Formula initiated by the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi and Ukraine's efforts to achieve a just peace.
"The statement also emphasises the importance of increasing investment in the reconstruction and defence industry of Ukraine, which will be the key to our resilience and victory," Ruslan Stefanchuk said.
The international partners paid considerable attention to Ukraine's Euro-Atlantic integration. The document reaffirms support for Ukraine's accession to NATO as soon as all the necessary conditions are met.
"This statement is another important step in consolidating the international community around Ukraine. We are grateful to our partners for their unwavering position and call on all countries of the world to join forces for Ukraine's victory and restoration of security in Europe," the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada concluded.
