Prime Minister of Ukraine and EU High Representative discuss cooperation and the importance of military support for a lasting peace

On 21 February, Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal had a telephone conversation with EU High Representative, Vice-President of the European Commission Kaja Kallas.

"We coordinated our actions on the eve of the EU Foreign Affairs Council meeting to be held in Brussels. We expect strong decisions," said the Head of Ukrainian Government.

He stressed that effective security guarantees and support for our country, combined with maximum pressure on russia, are key elements in ensuring a just peace.

Denys Shmyhal noted the importance of statements in support of Ukraine and the approval of the 16th package of sanctions at the level of EU ambassadors. He underlined that Ukraine was counting on toughening restrictions against russia in the future.

In addition, according to the Prime Minister, it is of great importance for our country to provide the Ukrainian defence forces with everything they need.

"It is essential to continue military support for Ukraine and ensure the uninterrupted supply of equipment and weapons," Denys Shmyhal stressed and thanked for all the assistance provided over the three years of full-scale war.

The Prime Minister also informed that Ukraine needs more air defence systems, artillery and armoured vehicles.

“Ukraine and Europe must act together and with a united front to ensure lasting peace on the European continent,” the Prime Minister concluded.
