Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine continues continuous work in the conditions of war and strengthens the European future of the state

The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Ruslan Stefanchuk took part in the forum ‘Ukraine. Year 2025’ forum, where he presented the results of the third year of the Parliament's work in the context of a full-scale war.

In his speech, he stressed that since the first day of the full-scale invasion, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine has continuously adopted important decisions to strengthen Ukraine's defence, accelerate European integration and counter russian aggression.

Thus, according to the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, during the third year of the Parliament's work under martial law, 77 plenary sessions were held, at which 671 agenda items were considered, 236 laws and 398 resolutions were adopted. “Considerable attention was paid to security issues – 60 legislative acts related to countering russian aggression, including 9 appeals to the international community,” said Ruslan Stefanchuk.

He also stressed that European integration remains one of the key areas of the Parliament's work. “The Verkhovna Rada has adopted 25 laws, 17 of which are aimed at implementing the recommendations of the European Commission on Ukraine's accession to the European Union,” said the Head of the Ukrainian Parliament and added that the Ukrainian Parliament was actively involved in the preparation of negotiating positions and the official screening of the compliance of Ukrainian legislation with EU law.

According to Ruslan Stefanchuk, international cooperation remains an important component of the Verkhovna Rada's activities. The Ukrainian parliament has been active in the international arena, securing the support of allies and strengthening parliamentary diplomacy. The Verkhovna Rada participated in the G7 Summit in Verona, where it held bilateral meetings with the heads of parliaments of the world's leading countries. The Third Parliamentary Summit of the Crimea Platform was held in Riga, which was attended by representatives of 70 countries and international organisations.

Ruslan Stefanchuk also outlined the main priorities of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine for 2025. These include continuing Ukraine's European integration, strengthening the international coalition of support, adapting legislation to EU standards, deepening cooperation with the US Congress, the European Parliament and other parliaments, as well as developing strategic partnerships and parliamentary diplomacy.

“The Verkhovna Rada continues to work on strengthening Ukraine's defence capabilities and its future in the Euro-Atlantic community,” said the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.
