On January 20, 2025, Patriarch Filaret of Kyiv and All Rus’-Ukraine congratulated Donald Trump on his election and assumption of the office of President of the United States of America
President of the United States of America
Donald Trump
Dear Mr. President!
On behalf of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Kyiv Patriarchate and personally from myself, I congratulate you on your election and assumption of the office of President of the United States of America.
The Ukrainian people greatly value the assistance provided by the United States of America to our country in defending our national sovereignty and territorial integrity.
The Ukrainian nation believes that with your assumption of the office of President of the United States of America, a just peace will come to Ukraine, which is suffering greatly from the unprovoked and brutal Russian aggression unleashed by a bloodthirsty tyrant. At this time, the Ukrainian people look forward to an era of strong leadership from the United States of America under your resolute guidance as President, who will help Ukraine liberate itself from the occupiers and achieve a just peace. May the Lord God, who said, “What is impossible with man is possible with God” (Luke 18:27), assist in this critical endeavor.
It is well-known that America deeply respects human rights and has always defended them around the world. I hope that under your tenure, the strategic partnership between our nations will continue, and the rights of the faithful of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Kyiv Patriarchate to freedom of conscience will be upheld. Furthermore, I hope that our Church will restore its legal registration with the Ukrainian state authorities and will once again be able to live freely and fulfill its salvific mission.
I wish you, Honorable Mr. President, robust health, strength, and inspiration in serving the American people and defending Christian values, as well as the ideals of freedom, peace, and democracy.
I call upon God’s blessing for you.
FILARET
Patriarch of Kyiv and All Rus-Ukraine
