Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Ruslan Stefanchuk, met with Canadian Senators during the Halifax International Security Forum
As part of his work at the Halifax International Security Forum, Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Ruslan Stefanchuk held a meeting with Canadian Senators.
At the outset, Ruslan Stefanchuk expressed his gratitude to Canada for its unwavering support of Ukraine, including military, financial, humanitarian, and political assistance, as well as its leadership on many important issues and its active stance on the international stage.
The Speaker of the Ukrainian Parliament emphasized that the situation on the frontline remains tense. He highlighted that Ukraine has been heroically resisting Russian aggression for over 1,000 days and continues to demonstrate resilience. "Russia is escalating further. On November 21 of this year, the enemy launched an intercontinental ballistic missile strike on the city of Dnipro," stressed the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.
In this context, Ruslan Stefanchuk called for enhanced defense support for Ukraine and the provision of weapons capable of deterring the aggressor and changing the situation on the battlefield. He also emphasized the importance of utilizing all the weapons provided to Ukraine to their full potential.
During the meeting, the parties also focused on strengthening sanctions against Russia. "The fact that we still find Western components in the missiles and drones Russia uses against Ukraine demonstrates the possibility of sanctions evasion. This requires decisive action by the international community," emphasized Ruslan Stefanchuk.
Special attention was given to the importance of implementing the Peace Formula. Ruslan Stefanchuk stated that Ukraine cannot agree to peace at any cost. "This is why the Ukrainian Peace Formula and the Victory Plan, presented by Volodymyr Zelenskyy in the Ukrainian Parliament, require support," he stressed.
The meeting participants discussed each point of the Victory Plan and emphasized the need for its prompt implementation.
In conclusion, Ruslan Stefanchuk drew attention to Canada's upcoming G7 presidency in 2025, describing it as an opportunity for strong and coordinated actions to bring victory closer. "I hope for continued solidarity at the parliamentary level between our countries and for the adoption of legislative initiatives in support of Ukraine by the Canadian Parliament," he concluded.
