Chairman of the Ukrainian Parliament Ruslan Stefanchuk meets with President of Latvia Edgars Rinkēvičs
Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Ruslan Stefanchuk, expressed his gratitude to the President of the Republic of Latvia, Edgars Rinkēvičs, for the unwavering support Latvia has provided to Ukraine on all levels: presidential, parliamentary, governmental, private sector, and across the entire Latvian society. The Chairman of the Ukrainian Parliament particularly thanked Latvia for its military, financial, and defense assistance.
Ruslan Stefanchuk highlighted the importance of Latvia’s decision to continue supporting Ukraine with an annual allocation of 0.25% of its GDP until 2026, as outlined in the bilateral Security Agreement.
During the meeting, the parties focused primarily on the security situation and the Victory Plan, which was presented a week ago by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to the Ukrainian Parliament.
“Together with the President of Latvia, we thoroughly discussed each point of the Plan, including the invitation of Ukraine to NATO, which would be a powerful strategic move capable of shifting the dynamics of the war. We also covered the strengthening of Ukraine’s defense capabilities and the enhancement of our ability to defend against the russian invasion, as well as the deployment of a comprehensive non-nuclear strategic deterrence package on Ukrainian territory. Additionally, we discussed the fourth and fifth points of the Plan: economic recovery and post-war reconstruction,” said Ruslan Stefanchuk.
In conclusion, the Chairman of the Ukrainian Parliament thanked Edgars Rinkēvičs for his support of the Victory Plan and Latvia's readiness to assist in its implementation.
