Ukraine is interested in Helsinki's experience in developing green technologies and construction of shelters
As part of his working visit to Finland, Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal met with Helsinki Mayor Juhana Vartiainen.
The Head of Government thanked for the active cooperation with the city of Dnipro and emphasized the active role of Helsinki in the implementation of the European Parliament and Eurocities campaign Generators of Hope.
“During the russian shelling of the energy system, Helsinki was one of the first cities to join the collection of energy equipment for Ukraine, and Finland is generally one of the first donors in Europe in terms of the amount of equipment provided,” said Denys Shmyhal.
The Prime Minister emphasized that Ukraine is interested in the experience of the city of Helsinki in the development of green technologies, in particular, in the heating system and the installation of solar panels.
“The assistance and involvement of Helsinki in the civil defense coalition for the construction of modern technological shelters, which was launched together with the Prime Minister of Finland, will be valuable,” the Prime Minister said.
In particular, Denys Shmyhal got acquainted with the Merihaka civil defense shelter in Helsinki. In total, there are approximately 5,500 shelters in the Finnish capital that can accommodate 900,000 people.
“We want to use this experience to build shelters in Ukraine. Together with Finland, we will involve partners in the implementation of such projects,” the Prime Minister said.
According to Denys Shmyhal, Ukraine is developing direct cooperation between Ukrainian and Finnish medical institutions. In particular, on October 18, the Ministries of Health of Ukraine and Finland signed an agreement, and the Ukrainian delegation got acquainted with the work of the Helsinki hospital.
The Prime Minister also thanked the Mayor of Helsinki for the treatment of Ukrainian soldiers. He also expressed hope for expanding cooperation in the treatment of children from Ukraine.
