Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Ruslan Stefanchuk Met with Speaker of the Seimas of Lithuania Viktorija Čmilytė-Nielsen

As part of the second session of the Assembly of the Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania and the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, the Chairman of the Ukrainian Parliament, Ruslan Stefanchuk, met with the Speaker of the Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania, Viktorija Čmilytė-Nielsen.

From the very first days of the full-scale invasion, Lithuania has supported Ukraine in all areas, and Ukraine deeply appreciates this. The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada emphasized this and expressed gratitude to the Lithuanian Parliament for its call to the governments of EU member states and partners to increase military support for Ukraine to at least 0.25% of GDP.

"During the meeting, we discussed the security situation, Ukraine's urgent military needs, and deepening cooperation in the defense. Significant attention was given to the practical support of the Victory Plan presented by Volodymyr Zelenskyy. We focused on the importance of each of its five points," Ruslan Stefanchuk reported.

He noted that the discussion also covered the need to intensify sanctions pressure on russia and prevent it from circumventing the imposed restrictions. The parties also focused on Ukraine’s European integration and the steps the country is taking to move closer to EU membership.

"Particular attention was given to Ukraine's NATO membership. I am convinced that, despite the full-scale war, the Allies can invite Ukraine to join the Alliance and begin accession talks," emphasized the Chairman of the Ukrainian Parliament.
