Ukraine signs memorandum of cooperation with Japan External Trade Organization JETRO
On 10 October, Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal met with Norihiko Ishiguro, Chairman of the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO), representatives of the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan and Japanese companies in Kyiv.
The meeting participants discussed recovery priorities, including energy. Denys Shmyhal thanked Japan for its assistance with equipment and spoke about the development of decentralised power generation and renewable energy sources. The Prime Minister invited Japanese companies to participate in these projects.
“Humanitarian demining is another important area of cooperation, and Japan is among the leaders in providing assistance. We are grateful for the transfer of equipment and machines for humanitarian demining, as well as funding for the project to train deminers of the State Emergency Service,” said Denys Shmyhal.
The Prime Minister expressed gratitude to the people and Government of Japan for their political, financial and humanitarian assistance.
Representatives of major Japanese companies assured that they were ready to participate in the recovery and cooperate closely with Ukrainian business.
At the end of the meeting, a Memorandum of Cooperation was signed between JETRO and the UkraineInvest Investment Promotion Office.
The Prime Minister stressed that this would strengthen cooperation between Ukraine and Japan and pave the way for new prospective projects.
“Japanese investors will be able to strengthen their business relations with Ukrainian companies and choose the most promising projects for their investments. They will also be able to introduce new approaches and technologies that will contribute to the development of our economy. We expect this cooperation to bring many fruitful results,” said Denys Shmyhal.
