The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Ruslan Stefanchuk met with the U.S. Secretary of State for 2018-2021 Mike Pompeo
First of all, the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Ruslan Stefanchuk expressed his gratitude to the US Secretary of State for 2018-2021 Mike Pompeo for the Crimean Declaration of 2018, which became an important element of the policy of non-recognition of the annexation of Crimea by russia. “It was this statement that contributed to the launch of the Crimea Platform, which has become an important initiative and a significant step in the return of Crimea to Ukraine,” Ruslan Stefanchuk said.
The Head of the Ukrainian Parliament also noted the importance of the comprehensive assistance of the United States of America and thanked for its leadership in supporting the Ukrainian people at this critical time for our country.
The two sides had a frank conversation, during which they discussed a number of key issues, including the security situation and defence needs of Ukraine. Particular attention was paid to solutions that will help our country win the war.
A significant part of the meeting was devoted to the implementation of the Ukrainian Peace Formula and the importance of continuing reforms in Ukraine. Ruslan Stefanchuk and Mike Pompeo also discussed the issue of sanctions pressure on russia and Ukraine's Euro-Atlantic integration.
The Speaker of the Ukrainian Parliament stressed that the support of the United States remains key for Ukraine on its path to victory over the aggressor.
