The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Ruslan Stefanchuk met with the delegation of the ruling party of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland
The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Ruslan Stefanchuk, met with a delegation of the ruling party of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, representing the Labour Party.
At the beginning of the meeting, Ruslan Stefanchuk noted the value of the UK's continued support for Ukraine and thanked for the constant support and the full range of comprehensive assistance provided.
The meeting focused on the security situation in Ukraine. The Speaker of the Ukrainian Parliament stressed the importance of meeting Ukraine's defence needs, especially in the face of constant russian terror and daily attacks on Ukrainian cities.
According to Ruslan Stefanchuk, the top priorities for Ukraine are air defence systems and missiles. “Additional systems will help protect the lives of civilians and ensure reliable protection of Ukrainian cities,” he said.
An equally important issue was ensuring the full use of the weapons provided by the allies. Ruslan Stefanchuk stressed that Ukraine cannot effectively defend itself with its hands tied, so it is critical to lift restrictions on the use of these weapons against legitimate military targets in russia. This primarily concerns military airfields where russian military aircraft are based.
Separately, the issue of increasing sanctions pressure on russia was raised during the conversation. Ruslan Stefanchuk stressed the need to prevent any attempts by russia to circumvent the restrictions already in place.
In conclusion, the Speaker of the Ukrainian Parliament expressed hope for further close cooperation between Ukraine and the UK to counter russian aggression.
