The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Ruslan Stefanchuk met with the Speaker of the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova Igor Grosu
The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Ruslan Stefanchuk met with the Speaker of the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova Igor Grosu, who is participating in the Fourth Summit of the International Crimea Platform.
Ruslan Stefanchuk noted the high level of inter-parliamentary cooperation between Ukraine and Moldova, as well as the active work of friendship groups between the two parliaments. He thanked Moldova for its political and humanitarian support, as well as for sheltering temporarily displaced Ukrainians.
During the conversation, the parties discussed the consequences of russian attacks and the terror of Ukrainian cities and civilian infrastructure, which is only intensifying. “This once again confirms that russia has no intention of abandoning its aggression,” the Chairman of the Ukrainian Parliament said.
In this context, Ruslan Stefanchuk stressed that President Volodymyr Zelenskyi's Peace Formula is the only way to sustainable peace. “Peace in exchange for territory is annexation, peace in exchange for sovereignty is surrender, peace in exchange for people is slavery. That is why it was important to hold the Peace Summit in Switzerland, which was the first step in the process of restoring a just peace,” he stressed.
The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine urged Moldova to join all sanctions against russia imposed by the EU, and the parties also paid considerable attention to the topic of countering russian propaganda.
The speakers of the parliaments also discussed European integration, noting that both countries are united in this issue and are moving towards EU membership together.
