On 11 September, Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal met with Prime Minister of Latvia Evika Siliņa in Kyiv.

The parties discussed expanding cooperation between the two countries in all areas related to strengthening the Ukrainian military on the battlefield. In particular, they discussed cooperation between defence companies.

“I am grateful to the Latvian Government and people for concrete and consistent steps to strengthen Ukraine’s position in the fight against the aggressor. In particular, for the ‘Drone Coalition for Ukraine’ initiative and the supply of drones for Ukrainian soldiers,” said Denys Shmyhal.

During the meeting, Evika Siliņa announced another package of military support, which will include armoured personnel carriers.

Denys Shmyhal stressed that Latvia had consistently supported sanctions against the aggressor and was Ukraine’s reliable ally in its integration into the EU and NATO.

The Prime Minister of Ukraine also emphasised that Latvia was helping Ukraine not only in the defence sector, but also in the social and energy sectors, providing energy equipment and planning to supply solar panels for hospitals.

He also thanked the Prime Minister of Latvia for her interest and support in the reconstruction projects, especially in Chernihiv region.
